Port Ginesta, the closest marina to Barcelona
If you're staying in Barcelona or flying in and out of El Prat, Port Ginesta is the easiest place to get on a boat on this coast. According to the marina, it's 25 km from the city and 10 km from the airport, just off the C-32 at exit 42. No need to cross Barcelona: it works for the day you land or for your last afternoon before the flight home.
The marina sits between Castelldefels beach and the Garraf cliffs, and officially belongs to Sitges, in Les Botigues. For you, that means the best of both: a long sandy beach on one side and the cliffs just outside the harbour on the other. With ten restaurants in the marina, according to its website, the group can eat or have a drink before or after the trip without moving the car.
Getting there
- By car: C-32 motorway, exit 42. The marina lists parking among its services.
- By bus: there's a direct bus between Port Ginesta and Barcelona.
- By train: the nearest stations are Garraf and Platja de Castelldefels, about 1.9 and 2.9 km away in a straight line.
- Meeting point: the exact pontoon and time come with your trip confirmation.
Two hours is enough to cruise under the cliffs and swim at Cala de la Ginesta or off Garraf. Half a day takes you on to Cala Morisca, and a full day lets you see Sitges from the sea or head up the coast towards Barcelona. Every cove is in our guide to the beaches near Sitges.

Where do prices start?
From €140 for 2 hours, the whole boat with a skipper.
Is Port Ginesta in Castelldefels?
It sits right next to Castelldefels beach, but officially it belongs to Sitges, in the district of Les Botigues. That's why you'll see it listed under both names.
How do I get there from Barcelona or the airport?
By car it's about 25 km from Barcelona on the C-32 (exit 42) and around 10 km from the airport, according to the marina. There's also a bus between Barcelona and Port Ginesta, and the nearest train stations, Garraf and Platja de Castelldefels, are about 2 and 3 km away.
Can we drive the boat ourselves?
Only with a boating licence: since 1 October 2026, Spain requires one to drive any hired boat. Every trip on this page comes with a skipper, so nobody in your group needs one.
Is there parking at the marina?
Yes, Port Ginesta lists parking among its services. If you're coming in several cars, allow a few minutes to meet up before boarding.
Can we sail to Sitges or to Barcelona?
On a full day, yes. Sitges is about 4.8 nautical miles west and Barcelona's Port Vell about 13.6 east, in a straight line; the skipper sets the route on the day, depending on the wind and the sea.
Do we need sailing experience for a sailing trip?
None at all. The skipper sails the boat; if you fancy taking the helm or trimming a sail for a while, just ask on board.
Why choose a catamaran?
Two hulls mean more deck and much less rolling, so it suits a group spending the whole day at sea, with nets at the bow for lying in the sun.
