The Garraf coast

Your day at sea, just south of Barcelona

Between Port Ginesta and Vilanova i la Geltrú, the Garraf massif drops straight into the Mediterranean: limestone cliffs, clear-water coves that are hard work to reach on foot, and Sitges, a white town that looks its best from the water. Port Ginesta is just 25 km (about 15 miles) from Barcelona, so a boat trip here is the easiest way to swap the city for the sea: no driving round looking for parking, and the next swim is one jump off the stern.

Every trip comes with a skipper, so nobody in your group needs a licence (here's what changed with boat licences in Spain). The skipper drives, picks the cove for the day's wind and drops anchor; you choose the plan. Swim at the hidden beaches near Sitges, watch the sunset from the sea off Sitges or check how much a private boat with a skipper costs from Sitges, Port Ginesta or Vilanova i la Geltrú before you choose. Then pick your marina: boat hire in Sitges, boat hire in Castelldefels or boat hire in Vilanova i la Geltrú. Packing already? Here's what to wear on a boat trip, and every other tip is in our boat trip guides.

FAQ

What people ask us most

Got another question? Write to us.

Which marina should I choose?

Port Ginesta, next to Castelldefels, is the closest to Barcelona and the airport. Sitges puts you right by the town and is the place for boat parties and sunsets off the old town. Vilanova i la Geltrú suits couples, small groups and anyone who wants to sail.

Is the boat just for us?

Yes. Every trip is private: the whole boat and the skipper are for your group, never shared with strangers.

Is the skipper included?

Always. Every trip comes with a professional skipper, and the prices you see are for the boat and the skipper together.

Do we need a licence?

Not with a skipper. You only need one to hire a boat and drive it yourself, as our guide to boat licences in Spain explains.

How does the request work, and does it cost anything?

Tell us the marina, the date and how many of you there are, using the form. Asking is free and doesn't commit you: you decide once you've seen the options.

Not sure which marina? Ask us

Tell us the date, how many of you there are and what you fancy doing. We'll suggest the marina that suits your plan and look for a skippered boat for your group.
