How much is a private boat trip from Port Ginesta (Castelldefels)?

In short
Port Ginesta, right next to Castelldefels, is the Garraf's front door if you're staying in Barcelona: the marina puts itself 25 km from the city and 10 km from the airport. You go out with a skipper, the boat is yours alone, and the cliffs start the moment you leave the harbour.
Here's what each trip costs, what the price covers and what's good to know before you go. Every trip from the marina is on boat hire at Port Ginesta.
What each trip costs from Port Ginesta
| Experience | 2 h | Half day (3–4 h) | Full day (5–8 h) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Skippered boat | €140 – €160up to 10 people€20 per person | On request | On request |
| Sailing boat | — | €300up to 7 people€43 per person | €520up to 6 people€87 per person |
| Catamaran | — | — | €900up to 10 people€90 per person |
Price for the whole boat with skipper, from the most affordable to the priciest. Per person: the most affordable one, full. ‘—’: that duration doesn’t run from Castelldefels. Reviewed in October 2026.
These are ‘from’ prices: the most affordable boat for each trip, always the whole boat with a skipper on board. Your final price depends on the boat, the date and your group, and comes with your options.
- Skippered boat, 2 hours: the short trip to see the cliffs and swim, from €140 for the boat.
- Skippered boat, half or full day: tell us how many of you there are and we'll send you options with prices.
- Sailing boat: half a day from €300 and a full day from €520.
- Catamaran: a full day from €900 for the whole boat.
What it works out per person
If there are only a few of you, look at the boat price. If you fill it, look at the price per head.
| Per person, boat full | 2 h | Half day (3–4 h) | Full day (5–8 h) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Skippered boat | €20 | On request | On request |
| Sailing boat | — | €43 | €87 |
| Catamaran | — | — | €90 |
Two examples. A catamaran day starts from €900 for the boat: fill it and it's €90 a head, with room to spread out and time for lunch at anchor. Half a day under sail starts from €300: full, it's €43 each.
Motorboat, sailing boat or catamaran: what you pay for
- Motorboat: gets there first. In 2 hours you can swim at Cala de la Ginesta or off Garraf beach and be back without rushing.
- Sailing boat: the journey is the plan. Sails up, engine off, and a swim stop when you find the spot.
- Catamaran: space and stability for a bigger group. Two hulls, a wide deck and far less rolling for a whole day at sea.
What's included (and what might not be)
The skipper, always: they're part of the boat price. Everything else, such as fuel, food or snorkelling gear, depends on the boat, and you get it in writing with your options, before you book.
A tip for comparing: some sailing boats at Port Ginesta are listed with an ‘optional skipper’ charged on top. Always add it up and compare the total, which is what you'll actually pay for a boat with someone at the helm.
Good to know before you go
With a skipper, all of this is taken care of for you. Still, it's nice to know.
No licence needed
With a skipper, nobody in your group needs a boating licence: the skipper drives. You'd only need one to take the helm yourselves, and since 1 October 2026 that applies even to small motorboats. More in do you need a licence to hire a boat in Spain?
Where you board
Port Ginesta, the marina right beside Castelldefels beach, with the Garraf cliffs next door. The exact meeting point and time come with your trip confirmation. Getting there from Barcelona or the airport is covered on boat hire at Port Ginesta.
Room for everyone
Every boat has a maximum number of people, and the skipper sticks to it. For a big group, the catamaran has the most room: tell us your numbers and we'll suggest the boat that fits.
Slow in the marina, music outside
Inside Port Ginesta and on the approach, boats keep to 3 knots without making waves, and nobody swims in the basins or channels. Keep the music low until you're out; after that, the mood is yours.
Beaches belong to swimmers
Near the shore, the skipper keeps out of the buoyed swimming areas and uses the marked channels in and out. You swim at anchor, away from the bathers or under the cliffs.
Sand, not seagrass
You're sailing in Costes del Garraf, a protected Natura 2000 marine area that starts at Castelldefels and runs to Cunit. The skipper drops anchor on sand, never on the posidonia seagrass meadows: you swim, and the seabed stays as it is.
The skipper has the final say
If the wind or the sea turns, the skipper decides the route, or when to head back. And you're covered: hire boats carry accident insurance for everyone on board.
