Barcelona to Sitges by boat: is there a ferry, and what's the best way by sea?

In short
Search for a ferry from Barcelona to Sitges and you'll find timetables, prices and booking pages. The catch: the ferry isn't running. Here's what happened to it, and the best ways to get to Sitges by sea today.
Is there a ferry from Barcelona to Sitges?
Not right now. In April 2016, BlueMar Ferries launched a line between Barcelona's Drassanes maritime station and Port d'Aiguadolç, Sitges marina, with a 300-passenger catamaran. The crossing took a little under an hour. Today the service is cancelled until further notice, and the ferry booking sites themselves say no ferries are sailing between the two.
| What | Source and date |
|---|---|
| The line opens between Drassanes and Sitges marina | Visit Sitges, April 2016 |
| “Cancelled until further notice” | Barcelona travel guide, July 2023 |
| “No ferries sailing between Barcelona and Sitges” | Ferry booking site, October 2026 |
As of October 2026, no ferry is running between Barcelona and Sitges.
What those “Barcelona–Sitges ferry” listings really are
Some activity websites still show a “high speed ferry” from Barcelona to Sitges. Look closer and it's a private boat trip lasting several hours, priced per group. Nothing wrong with that, but it's a charter, not a ferry. If you're comparing, check the total price for your group and which marina it actually leaves from.
How to get to Sitges by sea today
Go private: a boat with a skipper, only for your group, along one of the most beautiful stretches of coast near Barcelona.
From Port Ginesta, the marina closest to Barcelona
Port Ginesta sits where Castelldefels beach ends and the Garraf cliffs begin, 25 km from Barcelona on the C-32 (exit 42) and 10 km from the airport. According to the marina, it's 15 minutes south of the city. From there, Sitges is 4.8 nautical miles away by sea: about 15 minutes by motorboat, or around an hour under sail, with the wind in your face and the cliffs alongside.
On the way you pass Garraf beach, Cala Morisca and the hidden coves of the massif: every one, with its distance, is in our guide to the beaches near Sitges. For every trip from the marina, see boat hire from Port Ginesta.
Those crossing times are our own estimate, based on the straight-line distance. On the day, the skipper picks the route that suits the wind and the sea.
